Strokes – Did you know we TREAT it?

More than 700,000 Americans suffer a Stroke every yearStrokes can be devastating, physically, cognitively, and emotionally. The process of recovery may be tough, but Physical Therapy can be helpful for minimizing symptoms and improving quality of life after a stroke.

Stroke can cause problems with movement. Paralysis, or loss of muscle function, is common after Stroke — especially on one side of the body. Physical therapy can help stroke survivors regain strength, coordination, balance, and control of movement.

The goal of Stroke Rehabilitation is to help stroke survivors live as independently as possible while adjusting to new limitations. An Elite Physical Therapy program will be designed to guide the patient through complex movements, such as getting out of bed, walking, standing, going up and down stairs. There will also usually be a series of repetitive exercises on isolated muscle groups, to regain muscle control and build strength and flexibility.

Our Physical Therapists at Elite can help to speed up the lengthy and sometimes frustrating process of recovering from a Stroke. We have licensed physical therapists who specialize in stroke recovery and they will design a series of exercises, specifically addressing the patient’s particular post-stroke side effects. After assessing each individual patient, they will create a rehab regime that will help to restore as much normal function as possible, focusing on the range of motion, balance, motor control, strength, and endurance so that you can get back to living again!

Since we offer direct access, treatment can start immediately – you do not need a referral to start feeling better!
